Google launches 'Account Activity'

Google Account Activity Feature Lets You Monitor Your Usage

Search engine Google has launched ‘Account Activity’ — a new service that collates activities of users on all Google-owned sites including the popular ‘Gmail’ and ‘YouTube’ offerings. The service would provide information to the users on a monthly basis.
it sends you a monthly (password-protected) report with insights into your signed-in use of Google services. You’ll be able to check how many emails you’ve been sending, or who you contact most frequently as well as what you’ve been searching a lot for.

A blog post states that knowing more about your own account activity will help people take stock of what they’re doing online and “help take steps to protect your Google account.

While it doesn’t really offer any benefits at least not directly, you can use it to improve your account security. I.e. if you notice logins from a country that you’ve never been to, maybe it’s time you change your password or enable 2-step verification.
Google plans to incorporate more services into Account Activity in the future, but in the meantime if you’re keen on checking it out, head here to opt-in for the service.
