73% Of College Students Cannot Study Without Technology

For college students nowadays, having a smartphone and a laptop is a prerequisite. So dependent on technology are college students that a whopping 73% of them admit that studying without some form of technological aid is virtually impossible. This statistic comes by way of Presta Electronics who conducted a survey into college life and the use of technology.

The reliance is even greater in a qualitative sense because modern life especially in the developed world revolves around technology. The typical teenager before they enter college would have owned a smartphone, relied heavily on a computer of some kind and would have had the internet been a crucial part of their social life. This heavy reliance and exposure translates itself into college life where 93% of students admit to using email to communicate with their professors. A typical walk on any US college campus will expose you no fewer than 100 students walking around with their heads down and fingers busy tapping away at some sort of gadget.

Colleges have embraced the new way of life too and in many lecture halls across America, the iPad is now the standard device for taking notes. Presentations are almost always given now using some sort of electronic device and schools are now offering more training electronically than ever before. Gone are the days when a degree achieved online is frowned upon. Estimates tip at least 22 million students to take online courses by 2014.

The electronic tide is here and the younger generation is the reason it can never be stemmed.
